Let me be honest. I have become a homebody. Somewhere along the line I got boring. And to tell the truth I am not sure when.
I think maybe it happened shortly after I had my first child. Possibly it was my way of just surviving, something I did to keep things simple in my increasingly chaotic life. Or maybe it is because I felt that, thats what moms did. Stop living exciting lives and live only for the little ones that had blessed us with their presence.
It started a few months ago, the stagnate feeling started to come over me. I needed something new. The adventurer inside me wanted out. The girl that use to up and go, try new things, wanted freedom again. The old me the one that I tucked away because of kids was increasingly letting her presence be known.
So I did it. I said the words out loud. “I just need a change.”
Everyone knows that old saying “be careful what you ask for.”
Well one short week later the idea of traveling to Australia for my husbands work was put on the table. Now you would think my inner adventurer would jump at this opportunity but I had suppressed her for so long her voice was weak. My inner homebody had more power. I don’t know what I was thinking saying those words out loud for the universe to hear. Was I just hoping that it would present me with a new restaurant to bring the kids? Or maybe a new indoor play yard?
Instead the universe had rose up and presented me with an adventure for me and my family to share together and I am so glad it did. I have only been in Australia for a month and it has already shown and taught me so much.
It has shown me that I can travel with two kids (as long as I pack sufficient snacks and diapers). That sometimes the schedule can be tweaked. Lunch can be moved from noon to twelve-thirty and naps can be thrown out the window. But more importantly. That seeing a new world through two sets of eyes both young and older is… well for lack of better words truly eye opening. That although my adventures have changed from my adventures to our adventures and along with that the way I tackle them, it is still possible. That moms too can be exciting on occasion.
This trip has not only has changed the way I do things now, but hopefully this feeling of excitement and achievement will be something that will shape the way I tackle things in future.
I am so happy we got to experience Australia together! It’s been so much fun and I’m sad this trip is ending. What are the girls and I going to do, without you and your girls?! Now that you have travelled alone with the girls, you have earned your super mom cape! Do they make under-roos in adult sizes? 😉 🙂 xoxo

I understand what is meant–I think–but shouldn’t any good story make the stakes matter, grand-scale or personal? If the stakes matter to the characters, if the outcome matters to the reader, then the author has done his or her job.Maybe this is what I’m saying: If I don’t care whether or not the universe explodes, then the stakes aren’t high enough. The author hasn’t done his job and made me care.

I tried this with a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye and, unfortunatly, the actual spool and film together where to thick to load in this particular model. I may try to unroll, cut some off, and reroll the film (in the dark of course!) and see if that works. The film was Ilford HP-5 Plus 400 B/W. Wonder if another brand may fit better?

The other was an experienced rider getting knocked down by a dog on a lightly traveled side street. I've been trying to do some different/new things with annotations as well. Great write-up and videos Chad! Being an old Navy man and SCUBA diver, I was very much aware of thermoclines. However prior to you writings and videos I have very little knowledge on how thermoclines affected fishing. Great job on you part – plenty of detail for understanding while not being overly technical. I especially appreciated the explanation of how fishfinder can be made to display thermoclines on the graph. Great info. Keep you thoughts and knowledge coming so others of us can increase our fishing enjoyment.

I absolutely love what you are doing to honor your children. I think that it's great that you make donations in their name and give them their own tree. I admire you greatly.I'm still struggling with the right thing to do to honor Nate. It's a fine line to remember him and yet still remain joyful for my other kids. John in Cape May you could possibly book at Congress Hall, very nice hotel rooms a little expensive but not dumpy well worth it. Right in the center of town and it has a pool. Much nicer than LBI, good restaurants and if you want to take the kids to some amusements Wildwood is 10 minutes away but it can get a little scary there.
I agree, it’s going to be a long wait for the sequel! I haven’t reviewed this because of my blogging slump but I really enjoyed reading it, probably even more than her Demon’s Lexicon series (still need to read the third book). I think Kami is a great character and I loved that she’s partly Asian. Also, her fashion sense was pretty amazing.

Tunne on aika ihana. Nivelrikkokin minulla on poikkeuksellisen nuorena. Pillereitä ennätin popsimaan n. 6 vuotta yhteensä, parissa pätkässä. Minusta tarina voi hyvinkin pitää paikkansa ja muutenkin olen vähän sitä mieltä, että hormoneja ei sörkitä.
Sabah & Sarawak makes very good comparison as both states succumbed to a thundering victory for BN. However in Sarawak, we can say that ALL major Chinese votes went out to DAP. The problem is alternative parties for the indigenious races do not exist, & it’s difficult for the opposition to reach them in the interiors (cos BN doesn’t make enough roads & bridges). But there is hope, DAP knows this & it’s already in their plans. Hopefully they have astrong resolve, & the financial backing to carry it out. Getting just a portion of these indigenous support will swing the votes.

OR suffers: as incomes fluctuate a bit more than consumption, leaves Oregon with a non-diversified revenue stream. So sure, live and work in WA and do your consuming in OR—best of both worlds. Isn’t paying less (or avoiding paying at all) for what we consume (state services as much as goods) the American way?
